What makes a marriage biodata stand out
A marriage biodata is often the first thing a family sees about you — usually on a phone, forwarded in a WhatsApp group, sometimes printed and passed around at home. It has a few seconds to make a good impression, so it should be clear, warm and easy to read. A good design helps: a strong name at the top, a well-framed photo, and details grouped so the eye can find what it is looking for.
The designs here are built for exactly that. Each one fits on a single A4 page, uses typefaces chosen for print and screen, and leaves out any field you haven’t filled in, so you never end up with awkward blanks.
What to include in your biodata
Most families look for the same core details. Include what is true for you:
- Personal details — date, time and place of birth, height, marital status, diet, mother tongue and the languages you speak.
- Religion and community — religion, caste or community, and where relevant gotra, sect or denomination. Add rashi, nakshatra and Manglik status if your family matches Kundalis.
- Education and career — your qualifications, what you do and where. Income is optional; many families prefer to discuss it in person.
- Family — parents’ names and occupations, brothers and sisters, family type and values, and your native place.
- About me and partner preferences — a few honest lines in your own words. These are often the parts people read most closely.
Need something that isn’t listed? Every section lets you add your own rows, such as hobbies, grandparents’ names or a work location.
Choosing a design
Traditional and festive
Royal pairs deep maroon with gold ornamental corners and an arched photo frame. Traditional uses a saffron and red temple border, and suits families who prefer a classic look with an auspicious opening line.
Elegant and soft
Classic ivory is all about refined serif type on warm paper. Floral blush adds painted flowers and a round photo — lovely for sharing on WhatsApp.
Clean and modern
Modern puts your photo, name and contact details in a coloured sidebar, and Minimal keeps things crisp and simple. Both print well in black and white too. Every design comes in a range of colours, from maroon and saffron to navy, emerald and rose.
Tips for a great biodata photo
- Use a recent photo taken in daylight, facing the camera, with a plain background.
- Choose a portrait (taller than it is wide) where your face is clearly visible — then use the Up and Down buttons to frame it.
- Avoid group photos, heavy filters, sunglasses and selfies taken from a low angle.
- Dress the way you would to meet the family for the first time.
Writing “About me” and partner preferences
Keep it short and specific. Three or four sentences about what you do, what you value and how you spend your time say more than a long list of adjectives. For partner preferences, focus on values and must-haves — such as location, diet or wanting to work after marriage — rather than a checklist of looks.
Sharing your biodata safely
A biodata is forwarded far beyond the people you send it to, so share with care. Put the city you live in rather than your full home address, and consider giving a parent’s phone number instead of your own. Leave out documents such as Aadhaar or PAN numbers entirely. When you send it on WhatsApp, the image is quickest to view, while the PDF is best for anyone who wants to print it.
Because this tool runs entirely in your browser, nothing you enter here is stored or sent anywhere — your biodata only goes where you choose to send it.
